PRESS RELEASE
ACU 2010 British Supermoto Championship
Prospects for the future of the ACU British Supermoto Championship are to take an important step forward in 2010 following a number of meetings held with a cross section of interested parties including current Supermoto race organisers, BSMC, Norasport and Southern Supermoto.
After lengthy discussions, in which all issues were addressed in a forthright and open manner, unanimous agreement was reached by all present that will see the 2010 ACU British Championship run in conjunction with other organisers meetings’, thus ensuring the sport continues to thrive through genuine collaboration. It was proposed that four meetings will be organised by Norasport, two meetings by Southern Supermoto and one meeting by Scottish Supermoto at their excellent Crail circuit.
A number of venues are currently being assessed to ensure the best possible selection for the Championship, and a full list of dates and venues will be published as soon as the arrangements are concluded.
ACU Hon. Deputy Chairman, Frank Carter, commented “the total commitment of all parties in this agreement will now enable a good championship to develop into a great one and will also assist other clubs in promoting all aspects of Supermoto as a truly exciting branch of motorcycle sport for riders, sponsors and spectators alike.”
Norasport supremo, Toby Taylor added “ For many years we have been committed to running Supermoto meetings that cater for all levels of ability, for 2010 we are really excited about working in tandem with the ACU championship and it can only be good for the sport we love.”
Steve Berry of Southern Supermoto was equally happy with the 2010 proposals. “Southern Supermoto provides high quality competition for its members and we are really looking forward to bringing the ACU championship into two of our meetings as this can only help the sport to develop further in the south.”
David Dearden of BSMC said “Ultimately the aim of the British Championship is to provide its competitors with the highest standard of racing, venues and organisation in order for riders to achieve world championship standards of performance. Working with the clubs who feed the riders through from the grass roots will help us achieve our aims and we look forward to an exciting 2010.”
